Wearing a Medical ID Part 3: Child Safety

ID bracelets aren't just for people with a medical condition.  Children's ID bracelets are a great and inexpensive way to have a little more peace of mind when your child is away from you, or when you go take your child to a large venue such as a public swimming pool or an amusement park.  At the very least, children's ID bracelets are typically engraved with a parent's name and contact phone number for emergency situations.  This way, even if the child doesn't know what to do, someone can easily get in contact that child's parent.

We have also partnered with the Child Rescue Network  to create a great "If I'm Lost" plaque that is designed to help return a child to their parent as quickly as possible.  A portion of each "If I'm Lost" bracelet purchase is donated to the Child Rescue Network to help them better achieve their mission of protecting children.

Wearing a Medical ID Part 2: Children with Autism

There's a lot of confusion out there about who should wear a medical ID, when they should wear it, and how important it is for them to wear it.  In general, we recommend  that you wear a medical ID as often as possible if you take any sort of medication on a regular basis, or have a recurring medical condition.  We realize it can be a bit of a burden to have to wear a piece of jewelry 24/7; but medical id jewelry has come a long way in recent years and there is a much greater variety of quality ID's to choose from.  There are now fun and stylish medical ID designs in the form of medical alert dog tags, necklaces, and medical id bracelets in leather, Velcro and a variety of other materials.

In this video, we dive a bit deeper into why it's important for anyone with a recurring medical condition to wear medical alert jewelry and more specifically, why it is especially important for people with autism to wear a medical ID at all times.

New Laser Engraving on Black Items

One of our main focuses at Sticky Jewelry has always been the ability for our customers to purchase personalized jewelry for men and women.  Ever since we began offering custom engraving on our jewelry, there has been a wide selection of fonts, logos, and symbols to choose from.  Then, a few years back, we added CO2 laser engraving machines to our engraving department.  The addition of the CO2 engravers gave us the ability to laser engrave on top of jewelry using a black ceramic material that bonds directly to the metal.  This form of engraving is especially useful for medical alert jewelry because the black lettering makes the engraving even more legible than traditional engraving methods.  Today, we're announcing a new engraving option that has been added to our store.

We now own and have the ability to engrave using a YVO4 laser, which allows us to engrave on black.  YVO4 laser engraving  machines use a slightly different process to engrave on the metal.  Instead of applying the black ceramic material and then using a laser to bond that material to the metal (as we do with our CO2 laser engraving machines), our YVO4 laser engraver actually burns the engraving into the metal itself, like seen in the engravable bracelets to the right.  The appearance of this style of engraving is beautiful, and incredibly durable.  Even with hundreds of scratches, the engraving remains legible.  On stainless steel jewelry the new laser engraving style shows up in black (similar to the appearance of our CO2 laser engravers).  However, with the new laser engraving style we also have the ability to laser engrave on our black IP plated jewelry as well. This new laser can be applied to many types of jewelry including our medical ID bracelets, charms, pendants, dog tags and more.
